ROAD RECONSTRUCTION
DATES TO REMEMBER
Between November 20 and January 10 all
traffic lanes (3) in each direction will
be open to traffic. This provision is in
contract to allow ease of travel during
the holiday season.
Week Ending 10/19/02
Sealand
Contractor crews have begun the
reconstruction of the north side
or the westbound curb lane
between Stone Rd. and Glenora St.
and the ramp on the southeast
corner of Mt. Read Blvd. They
have installed drainage and will
be working on (box out) removing
the old pavement and placing the
gravel. They continued to work on
various operations throughout the
project and intend to place
asphalt in this area in the next
few weeks. A few water services
still need to be connected to
homes and businesses. This
requires the temporary shut down
of water service.
Frontier
Telephone continues to install
conduit and manholes on the north
side with most of their work now
between Stone Rd and Rte. 390.
RG&E has many
operations through out the
project, as crews install gas
mains, electrical conduits,
rebuild manholes, and reconnect
lines. New wood and steel
utilities poles have started to
be installed on the north side of
the road.
Dewey Avenue has
a large manhole in the southeast
corner that is being worked on
and the connecting conduit runs
should be completed in a 2-3
weeks. This has required the
realignment of traffic in that
area.
Mt. Read Bridge
The new concrete bridge deck, on
the north side, was placed on
Friday 9/13. The new sidewalk and
deck grooving should be complete
by 10/25. By the end of November
westbound traffic should be on
this new portion of bridge.
NIGHT WORK-- >RG&E
plans to continue night work until about
11/01 which should complete the night
work operations for this season. Traffic
will be reduced to a single lane in each
direction in these areas. The first
closure will begin at 7:00 PM. All lane
will be open by 6:00 AM.

Daytime traffic patterns are changing
regularly. Most of the project is reduced
to two lanes in each direction plus a
center left turn lane. Some daytime
operations will require a reduction to 1
lane for short periods (2-3 hours). This
will be done in off peak periods 9-11:30,
1- 3:30. Operations will continue to
require the closing of sections of
sidewalk. Please look for SIDEWALK CLOSED
SIGNS and cross Ridge Rd at signalized
intersections.

9/14/02
Sealand Contractor
crews continued to work on various
operations throughout the project.
Numerous water services are being
connected to homes and businesses, with
most of this work bei ng done between 2
p.m. and 6 a.m. This has required the
temporary shut down of water service
RG&E has man y operations through out
the project, as crews install gas mains,
electrical conduits, rebuild manholes,
and reconnect lines. New wood utility
poles have started to be installed on the
north side of the road and new steel
poles will start beginning installed in
the near future.
Mt. Read Bridge The new
concrete bridge deck, on the north side,
was placed on Friday 9/13. In
approximately 6-8 weeks, this will be
ready to carry traffic.
In the weeks ahead:
Sealand contractor crews will be
concentrating on re building the roadway
on the north side between Stone and
Glenora. This will allow traffic to be
shifted onto the new bridge during the
winter shut down and will carry all
traffic next year while the south half of
the roadway is rebuilt. If weather and t
ime permit, they may try to rebuild the
roadway from Stone to 390 on the north
side.
NIGHT WORK
Most night work
operations are complete for the time
being. Only and occasional operations
will be required. Traffic will be reduced
to a single lane in each direction in
these areas. The first closure will begin
at 7:00 PM. All lanes will be open by
6:00 AM.

8/30/02

bridge near Hanford Landing. There is a
small widening and work under the bridge
to carry new conduits for signals and
fiber optics. Numerous water services are
being connected to homes and businesses.
Frontier Telephone continues to install
conduit and manholes on the north side
going west from Dewey to Buckman. They
have completed their work from the
railroad tracks east.\par
RG&E crews have operations through
out the project. They have numerous crews
on the project installing gas mains,
electrical conduits, rebuilding manholes,
and reconnecting lines. Installation of
new steel utility poles will begin in the
near future; new wood poles have started
to be set.
Mt. Read Bridge
Workers are preparing forms to pour the
new concrete deck. This should happen the
week of 9/9. There is lots of activity
around the bridge as preparation
continues for the new pavement that will
connect to the new bridge.

Girders were erected Wednesday and
Thursday night 8/7, 8/8. Workers are
preparing forms to pour the new concrete

Contractor crews continue to work on
the Kodak bridge near Hanford Landing.
There is a small widening and work under
the bridge to carry new conduits for
signals and fiber optics. They completed
the installation of the 8" &
12" water mains from Mt Read to the
Railroad Tracks. They will continue to
tie in laterals from the mains to side
streets, and some properties. This will
require some night work when road
crossings are necessary. Frontier
Telephone continues to install conduit
and manholes on the north side going west
from Dewey to Buckman. They have
completed their work from the railroad
tracks east. RG&E crews continued to
build forces and have operations through
out the project. They have 14 crews on
the project installing gas mains,
electrical conduits, rebuilding manholes,
and reconnecting lines. They will begin
installing new poles in the near future.
They also will be working nights to make
road crossings. This work is scheduled to
begin on 8/11. Eastman Avenue Contractor
crews continue to install the new
drainage for the relocated Eastman Ave.
Extension which runs between Dewey and
Mayflower behind the Post Office. Carlise
Street has been closed at Maynard St.
This will be in effect for about three
weeks. Mt. Read Bridge Progress continues
to be made on the bridge. Steel Girders
are scheduled to be erected on Wednesday
and Thursday night 8/7, 8/8. This will
require reducing Mt. Read Blvd. and Ridge
Rd to a single lane in each direction
with numerous traffic stops on Mt Read.
This work will be done between the hours
of 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM. Operations will
continue to require the closing of
sections of sidewalk. Please look for

NIGHT PAVING JOB NEXT WEEK WILL IMPROVE
CONDITION OF W. RIDGE ROAD Expect Lane
Closures Throughout the Night Beginning
Monday (7/15) for 6-8 Days
(Rochester, NY- July 5, 2002) In
recognition of the rough conditions on
W.Ridge Road in Greece,the NYSDO t is
slated to start a maintenance project
next week July 15-to pave Ridge Road
between 390 and North Greece Road. In an
effort to minimize impact to the
businesses owners and travelers,
arrangements with the town have been made
to do the work at night between the
approximate hours of 8p.m.and 8a.m.
State highway maintenance crews will be
grinding the high spots and paving the
roadway with a thin layer of asphalt. The
entire project is expected to take 6-8
days. Crews may work during the weekend.
Daily news faxes will be issued.
A minimum of one lane will be open in
each direction during work hours. Access
to businesses will be maintained,
excluding the short amount of time the
paving equipment passes by. Motorists
should reduce their speed and watch for
moving workers and equipment through the
work zone.
Week
Ending 6/14/02
Work will generally continue in all of
the above areas, including night work on
the 8" & 12" water main and
some night work at Dewey to complete road
crossings.
Frontier Telephones work on the
installation of new conduits and manholes
in the w.b. lanes will require closing
sidewalks in several areas. Please look
for SIDEWALK CLOSED SIGNS when walking in
this area.
RG&E to begin work. Crews working for
RG&E will begin work starting
Wednesday 6/12. Expect to see as many as
7 crews in the next 2-3 weeks in various
area of the project. The first crews will
be working on the north side between Mt.
Read and 390.
LANE CLOSURES - In the next 2-3 weeks
most of the project will be reduced to
two lanes in each direction plus a center
left turn lane in most cases. Look for
the curb lane to be closed in both
directions throughout the project except
in those areas that already have center
lane closures. Some daytime operations
will require a reduction to 1 lane for
short periods (2-3 hours). This will be
done in off peak periods 9-11:30, 1-3:30.
Longer term reductions will be done at
night
Week Ending 6/07/02
Ridge Road - Contractor crews continued
to install the 8" & 12"
water main on the north side of the road
progressing from Mt. Read to the east.
They completed work > >to about
Carlisle Street.
Frontier Telephone continued to install
conduit on the north side going west from
Dewey. A short term detour was put in
place for Dewey Ave. southbound to 104
westbound. For about 10 days right hand
turns will be prohibited while Frontier
rebuilds a manhole in the northwest
corner of Dewey and Ridge. Motorist
should follow the posted detour that
takes them south on Dewey to Ridgeway
Ave. westbound and Mt. Read northbound
back to Ridge Rd.
Eastman Avenue - Contractor crews
continues to install the redesigned
sanitary sewer line requiring Eastman
Ave. to remain one way. Weather
permitting Eastman Ave. should be opened
by 6/15.
Mt. Read Bridge - Good progress continued
to be made at the bridge.
Week Ending 6/1/02:
Work will generally continue in all of
the above areas, including night work on
the 8" water main and some night
work at Dewey to complete road crossings.
Frontier Telephones work on the
installation of new conduits and manholes
in the w.b. lanes will require closing
sidewalks in several areas. Please look
for SIDEWALK CLOSED SIGNS when walking in
this area. They also have one large
manhole in the northwest corner of Dewey
Ave. that must be rebuilt. This will
require a short term alternate route (10
days) for motorists traveling on Dewey
southbound that want to turn right and go
westbound on Ridge. Look for variable
message board and detour sign notices
Week Ending 5/25/02:
Work will generally continue in all of
the above areas.
Traffic patterns will change often,
especially near Dewey. Placement of
concrete footings for the new Mt. Read
bridge will begin on Tuesday. Frontier
Telephone will work on the installation
of new conduits and manholes in the newly
closed w.b. lanes which will carry the
relocated telephone lines. This work is
primarily behind the curb and under the
sidewalk. Please look for SIDEWALK CLOSED
SIGNS when walking in this area. They
also have one large manhole in the
northwest corner of Dewey Ave. that must
be rebuilt. This will require single lane
traffic on Dewey for several days.
Eastman Avenue -will be closed during the
day, one or two days to complete water
line installation.
Week Ending 5/24/02
Ridge Road
Contractor crews continue to install the
8" water main on the north side of
the road progressing to the east. They
got as far as Delta Sonic. Frontier
Telephone continues installing conduit on
the north side going west from Dewey as
far a DeVitt which will be closed at
Ridge but open to local traffic only from
the north side streets. RG&E has not
started work yet.
Eastman Avenue
Contractor crews continues to install the
redesigned sanitary sewer line requiring
Eastman Ave. to remain one way. Utility
conflicts continue to make progress slow.
We anticipate this work to be completed
in 2-3 weeks.
Mt. Read Bridge
The first concrete footing pours were
completed and form work for the abutment
has begun.
Week Ending 5/18/02:
Dewey Avenue -
Sealand Contractors completed the
pavement at the southwest corner of Dewey
and Ridge. This allows the traffic to be
shifted to the south side of the road
from Hansford Landing Rd to Bernice
Street. The two westbound curb lanes are
closed to allow utility work in this
area. Frontier Telephone - see Ridge Road
RG&E has not started work yet.
Eastman Avenue -
Sealand Contractors continues to install
the redesigned sanitary sewer line
requiring Eastman Ave. to remain one way.
Utility conflicts continue to make
progress slow. Water line relocation will
require lane reductions and single lane
traffic for a few days.
Mt. Read Bridge -
Demolition of the piers and abutments
continues. Preparation for concrete
placement in the footings is under way.
Ridge Road -
Night crews have been installing the new
8" water line from Mt. Read to the
Railroad on the north side of Ridge. This
work will continue for a few weeks.
Mayflower -
Crews have completed a section of storm
sewer that becomes part of the Eastman
Ave Extension drainage. Crews have
completed taking soil samples to test for
contaminated material

Work will generally continue in all of

especially near Dewey.
Placement of concrete footings for the
new Mt. Read bridge will begin in a
couple weeks.
New Work - Crews will be working nights

Dewey Avenue -
Sealand Contractors began the
reconstruction of the pavement at the
southwest corner of Dewey and Ridge.
Frontier Telephone continues to work on
the installation of new conduits
which will carry the relocated telephone
lines. They have crews working
nights trenching across Dewey and Ridge
to minimize the inconvenience to the
traveling public.
RG&E has not started work yet.
Eastman Avenue -
Sealand Contractors continues to install
the redesigned sanitary sewer line
requiring Eastman Ave to remain one way.
This should be completed in 1-2 weeks.
Mt. Read Bridge -
The bridge deck and girders on the closed
half have been removed and
demolition of the piers and abutments is
under way.
Ridge Road -
One crew has been saw cutting the
existing pavement of the north lane
(westbound right lane) in preparation of
the installation of new water lines
from Mt. Read to Railroad.
Bernice -
A storm sewer drainage line was installed
from Ridge Road to the north.
Mayflower -
Crews have completed a section of storm
sewer that becomes part of the
Eastman Ave Extension drainage. Crews are
also taking soil samples to test
for contaminated material.
